Nike HyperKO 1 vs HyperKO 2 vs HyperKO 3: Which Should You Buy?
Nike's HyperKO line has gone through three generations, and each one takes a different approach to the same problem: keeping your foot locked in place while you move and punch. Here's how they compare and which one suits you.
The short answer
| HyperKO 1 | HyperKO 2 | HyperKO 3 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main idea | Maximum lockdown | Close, sock-like fit | Minimum weight |
| Key technology | Flywire cables, forefoot strap | Flyknit upper, integrated cuff, split sole | Super Critical Foam footbed, lace garage |
| Weight | Heaviest of the three | In between | 10.2oz, Nike's lightest boxing shoe |
| Status | Out of production | Available while stock lasts | Nike's current lead boxing shoe |
Nike HyperKO 1: built for lockdown
The original HyperKO uses Flywire cables through the midfoot, tied into the laces, to add support exactly where load lands without extra bulk. On top of the laces sits a forefoot lockdown strap that stops your foot travelling forward when you pivot or load into a shot.
It's the most structured of the three, which makes it a strong choice for fighters who plant to punch or carry more weight. The HyperKO 1 is no longer in production, so availability depends on remaining stock. See our HyperKO 1 colourways.
Nike HyperKO 2: built for fit
The HyperKO 2 replaces the strap with a Flyknit upper that uses zonal stretch to wrap the foot, and a form-fitting integrated cuff instead of padded ankle support. A Nike Skin overlay reinforces the toe and ankle, and a split sole keeps the forefoot flexible.
The result is a closer, more natural feel than the HyperKO 1. It suits boxers who want mobility and a glove-like fit over maximum lockdown.
Nike HyperKO 3: built for weight
At 10.2oz, the HyperKO 3 is Nike's lightest boxing shoe. It uses a Super Critical Foam footbed for energy return, a lace garage on the tongue to store loose laces, and an ankle lace-holder at the heel for boxers who wrap their laces. It keeps a forefoot strap based on the HyperKO 1's design, so you still get lockdown in a lighter shoe.
Which one should you buy?
- Choose the HyperKO 1 if you want the most support and you plant to punch.
- Choose the HyperKO 2 if you want a close, sock-like fit and natural movement.
- Choose the HyperKO 3 if weight matters most and you want Nike's newest design.
Sizing for all three
Every HyperKO runs narrow and about half a size short, so order half a size up. See our sizing guide for more.
